THE WORLD’S LARGEST KITE AND OTHERS TO SOAR AT METRO NY BALLOON & MUSIC FESTIVAL

On August 8th, 9th and 10th the world’s largest kite will soar over the crowd at the Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival at Calabro Airport in Brookhaven.  Hosted by the Town of Brookhaven and sponsored by RE/MAX of New York, Inc., this spectacular three day event will deliver a summer’s worth of entertainment and activities for people of all ages.

The “Mega Flag,” an enormous American flag kite, was designed and constructed by Guinness Record Holder Peter Lynn of New Zealand. The astounding 130 foot wide and 80 foot deep kite will appear at the Festival courtesy of Gomberg Kite Productions.  Wind and weather permitting, the “Mega Flag” will have two launches each day lasting about an hour each.

Also set to “Reach for the Sky” are the spectacular and colorful 60 foot tall Teddy Bear, an 80 foot long Manta Ray and a 90 foot wide Octopus and Gecko kites.  Hot air balloons will inflate and take to the skies between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. only (weather permitting), and the kites will fill the sky three to four hours during each day. 

While the skies will be full of activity, there will be action and excitement on the ground as well.  There will be daily monster truck rallies, motorcycle dare devil performances, extreme sports displays and other thrilling shows.  The skydivers will return as well as an expanded carnival midway, circus acts, Purina pet pavilion, travel expo, boat and RV show, antique fire truck show, craft and home improvement pavilion and custom car and motorcycle show.  

More than 25 top name touring and Metro NY area bands will perform all day long on two big concert stages each day of the Festival.  All concert performances are free with admission.   
Tickets for the Festival can be purchased online in advance at the Festival’s website.  Walk-in tickets at the Festival will cost slightly more.  Tickets for the Festival are also available at participating RE/MAX real estate offices, Curves locations and PC Richard & Sons Metro NY locations.  Discount coupons are available at all 88 McDonald’s franchise locations across the Long Island.  Advance ticket prices are adult $20, children ages 5 to 11 $12 and kids 4 and under are free.  For tickets, information and schedule of performances visit www.metronyballoonfest.com  or call (516) 794-4444.
