IRELAND’S OWN SAW DOCTORS TO GIVE SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AT METRO NY BALLOON & MUSIC FESTIVAL

Festival to feature more than 40 music acts including the folk-rock band the Saw Doctors direct from Ireland making their only Long Island appearance this summer

The Irish folk-rock band Saw Doctors will perform at the Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival on Saturday, August 9th at 6:00 p.m. on the Festival’s south stage.  The Legendary Irish folk-band has a core of devoted fans in Ireland and a fervent following among Irish-Americans in the United States.  With an impressive live presence, the Saw Doctors are known to induce the crowd into song and jig with their long list of hits and sing-along choruses.  The Saw Doctors celebrate their 20th Anniversary this year and hold the record for Ireland's biggest-selling single of all time, "I Useta Lover", which topped the Irish charts for nine weeks in 1990.

The Metro NY Balloon & Music Festival will take place on the weekend of August 8, 9 and 10 at Calabro Airport in Brookhaven.  Sponsored by RE/MAX of New York Inc., the Festival will feature over 40 musical acts performing on three huge concert stages and more than 100 hours of musical entertainment.

Performing bands include Zebra, local teen favorite Push Play, Billy Joel tribute band “Big Shot” and touring Pink Floyd tribute band “The Machine.” Also scheduled to appear are Unforgettable Fire, performing the music of U2; Bad Medicine, tribute to Bon Jovi; Almost Queen, tribute to Queen; Evolution, tribute to Journey and Big Shot, playing Billy Joel’s hits. All concert performances are free with admission.  The United States Marine Corps Second Marine Aircraft Wing Big Band and Show Band will perform daily as well.  In addition, Long Island radio station, Party 105.3, will celebrate its Tenth Anniversary at the Festival with a Mega Jam on Saturday evening, August 9th.  The Mega Jam will feature over 25 star pop and dance artists.
